Founded in 1945 in London, Bernshaw created hugely popular occasion wear for the next 70 years. Famed for its canny appropriation of runway collections and pieces worn by celebrities, it was sold in Harrods and Selfridges from the 1950s. This floor-length blouson gown was designed in the label's 1970s heyday. Tailored from a polyester jersey cloth in eye-catching emerald green, it is cut straight across the bust with delicate spaghetti straps and is adorned with ruffles all over the bodice. There is a tonal zip at the middle of the back. The original label reads "Bernshaw - Made in England".
In excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. This dress style suits a variety of shapes; our model is a UK 8-10 or US 4-6 and 5ft 11in (180cm) and this was a good fit on her. There is some flexibility with the all the measurements below due to the slight elasticated waist and fluid nature of the jersey so the dress should also fit sizes up to a UK 12 or US 8.
